Mindy J. Fain, MD

Dr. Fain is the Anne & Alden Hart Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Nursing, board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and hospice and palliative medicine.  She is the co-Director of the University of Arizona Center on Aging, and the Division Chief of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Medicine in the College of Medicine, at the University of Arizona. She is also the Associate Director for Education, Care & Community Research for the Innovations in Healthy Aging initiative at the University of Arizona Health Sciences.

Her areas of expertise include geriatrics and palliative medicine, frailty syndrome and resilience, interprofessional geriatric education and training, cognitive impairment, end of life care, caregiver support, and community-based care.  Her goal is to develop and disseminate high value models of health care and advance the health and wellness for older adults through integrated programs in interprofessional education and training, aging-related research, and clinical care. She is the co-director of the NIA R25 MSTEM THRIVE research education grant in aging, focused on supporting a pipeline of diverse students to successful careers in aging-related research.  She is committed to preparing the healthcare workforce to care for the growing numbers of older adults.
